Fans of the popular EA Sports FIFA gaming series around the country can experience the best of what Indian football has to offer courtesy of the recently released Indian Football Mega Patch for FIFA’s latest instalment, FIFA 10. Gamers can now enjoy a full i-League season apart from the various official cup tournaments or even take over the national team from the comfort of their own homes.
Eighteen year old Mayur ‘Emkay’ Karanjkar, a computer science student from Ferguson College is the mastermind behind this truly remarkable piece of work which seamlessly integrates comprehensive team rosters along with beautifully detailed team kits and stadia. “I began work on this project in July ’09 right after Pune FC qualified for the 2009-10 i-League. Thanks to all the support from the online FIFA gaming community, I was able to achieve all of my targets and come up with a comprehensive patch for Indian football”, explains Emkay. Apart from making time to work on the patch in his busy college schedule, the youngster makes it a point to catch up on his favorite team in action at the Balewadi stadium, proudly stating “Pune’s inclusion in the i-League is a major boost to local football and we are all passionate about our team.” A worthy mention goes out to FootballKerala, com founder Mohanraj Kothapily for assisting Emkay in regards to various aspects on the patch and providing high quality pictures of the players, team kits and stadia. Emkay, not one to rest on his laurels, has already begun work on the next update which will feature the i-League Division Two and new stadia - complete with team chants and anthems.
